graduating ginger…
May 18, 2011

So…my last “final” is today at 2…(“final” because I’ve already done it and submitted it.)

After this…I will never have to go to class, write an assignment, do homework, or take a test again!  It’s bittersweet …definitely not as exciting as I imagined.

I can still remember the feeling I had when my parents dropped me off at Saint Joseph’s University 4 years ago…it is amazing to think how fast the time has gone by!!

I have had the pleasure of LOVING my “random match” freshman roommate, Maggie. At first Maggie seemed like the complete opposite of me…but over the years we have grown extremely close! This is the first day we met….we had spent all day setting up our dorm room and were very proud of our favorite duck rug!

Maggie and I ended up living together ALL 4 years…over the past few weeks we had A LOT of talks about…graduating, jobs, growing up, being scared, how fast it all went by, and how much we will miss living together…it is SO sad to think that the person you have been living with…sharing all of your  laughs, your cries, your secrets, your dreams, and your worries with…someone that you have formed this incredible bond with….you may not see them…ever again…

I tried not to think about it and smile during graduation day…but it really has been heartbreaking to think about.

I know that Maggie is a friend for life and we will remain friends but I have to say…it is WEIRD not talking to her everyday…and if you’re reading this Maggie…I love you and miss you!!!  Hopefully we can arrange a visit soon!! ❤

Wow this entry came out a lot sadder than I imagined….

Social Media Stress Disorder….haha
May 6, 2011

Haha I saw this on Twitter!  It’s an article from Social Media Today that mocks the Social Media OBSESSED…I found it funny because…well I have the “SYMPTOMS” yikes!

“In a recent issue of Psychology Tomorrow Afternoon, Dr. Tweety McTweeterson, explains, “It starts out innocently enough.  A person gets a Facebook account and reconnects with a few friends from college.  They enjoy the daily updates, but soon find that they need more.  Facebook is a gateway social media tool.  When Facebook no longer feeds their social media buzz, they turn to Twitter (the crack of social media).  At first, it is confusing, but soon they have 40 or 50 followers and are getting to know their new friends.  After a few months, they find themselves spending more and more time on Twitter, until one day they discover TweetDeck.  It is all downhill from there.  The addict is tweeting at all hours, often carrying on three or four conversations at once.  They are hooked.”

Warning signs:

  1. Do you check your twitter stream the moment you wake, worried you might have missed something?
  2. Does it hurt your feelings when friends and family look at you with a combination of pity and concern, when you excitedly told them you now had 1,000 followers?
  3. Have you retweeted a celebrity tweet with delusions that they give a damn?

If any of these sound familiar, you may be vulnerable to SMSD.  The attacks can be brutal, leading to feelings of nerdiness with light bouts of geekiness.  Under no circumstance should you try to talk about it with your family or friends, as you will be mocked, making the situation worse. “

It’s that time of year again!  I am fixing up my portfolio for my Communications class, I haven’t done much to it since last semester.  I added a few things to the experience section, added a new video, and still having trouble uploading my slide show presentations.  Feel free to check it out!

Fake Tweetz
May 4, 2011

Originally I was planning on doing the “Beautiful Social” final…however in my procrastination I spent 4 hours online “window shopping”.  I came up with the idea to turn this into my final project.

I came up with the twitter handle “SH0PAH0LIK”, I based on the “girly” side of my personality and just had fun with it.  I tweeted a lot of links to cute clothes for all types of budgets, I also interacted with fashion blogs, and tweeted style/fashion articles.  This is a quick snap shot of my twitter:

I tweeted things such as Kleinfeld’s knock-off of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress that will be available this summer.  I also tried to start some conversations such as “summer is almost here- where’s your favorite summer shop spot?” and “What’s your take on maxi skirts- love ’em or hate ’em?”

I wish that I had went with this idea earlier because I would have loved to see what could really happen and how far it could go!  I started this twitter about 24 hours ago…

Last night when I went to bed I only had 11 followers….but I continued to tweet and engage my audience.  For the duration of this endeavor- I’ve tweeted 30 times and have about 30 followers.  This really SHOCKED me – my followers t.r.i.p.l.e.d. over night.  I can’t imagine what would have happened in the long run!

I think I may keep up with this twitter…not AS intense…(a.k.a. I won’t tweet EVERY hour) but I think it will be fun to keep up with it a little bit!!  Just to keep the experiment going!  Anyway if you want to check it out – @SH0PAH0LIK
